Spaces: switch between Personal and Work
NewSpaces splits your library into Personal and Work and shows one at a time. Switch with the button beside Jump to. Part of Pro. Screenshot
NewA top-level folder belongs to one space, with everything in it. "Move to Work" or "Move to Personal" in its menu, or in the menu of any item, moves it across. Screenshot
NewAn item in no folder is Personal, so what you make while Work is open goes into a Work folder. The app makes one named "Work" when there is none.
NewEvery list, its counts, the search and the tags show the open space.
NewA few places show both spaces on purpose, so nothing gets lost: the quick switcher, note-links and Move to folder find items in either space, and opening one switches to its space.
NewThe journal calendar shows both spaces too: a round dot for Personal and a square dot for Work.

Shortcuts: open a note from another app
New"Copy shortcut to note" in the Share menu copies an address that opens the note from another app, such as a Todoist task, a calendar event or a QR code. Screenshot
NewEvery item has a shortcut, logins, cards, SSH keys, bookmarks, contacts and files included, in the Share menu and in the right-click menu of every list.
NewA shortcut can open a note at one heading: click the link icon of a heading in the outline and pick "Copy shortcut to heading". Screenshot
New"Copy note-link" sits beside it in the Share menu, so the link for inside your notes and the link for other apps are in one place.

A passphrase generator, and a password you can read

It reads only identifiers and timestamps, never your note contents.

Drag the panes to fit, and a roomier phone screen
NewEvery pane now sizes to your screen. Drag the edge of the sidebar or the notes list to widen it, with a live width readout as you go, so long folder names finally have somewhere to go. In grid view the open editor gets the same divider: drag it to trade space with the grid, or click it to give the editor the whole window. Widths are remembered per device, so a laptop and a large monitor each keep their own shape, and "Reset Pane Widths" in the right-click menu puts all three back.
NewA Device spell check switch in Settings > Appearance. If you write in a language your computer is not set to, the red underlines under every word can now be turned off, which matters most in the Windows app, where the dictionary follows the Windows display language and nothing else. It stays on the device you set it on, so turning it off on a Windows laptop leaves your phone and browser as they were.
NewTasks now has the same sort control as your notes and files. Sort by date created, date modified, title or size, in either direction, and the aggregate list, the note rows, the hybrid strip and the grid all follow.
ImprovedThe phone gives you a row of screen back. The app name bar above every list is gone, folded into the list's own title row, which is now also how you switch between Notes, Tasks, Journals and Files: tap the title and pick. That is about a full note card of extra list on every phone screen.
ImprovedPinned task lists sit on top in Tasks, in every view, and the aggregate now shows a pin marker so the order makes sense at a glance.

Each file becomes its own folder, so zipping several together rebuilds a whole account in one pass, and links between notes are rebuilt as note-links.

You decide where your recovery phrase lives
NewYou can now change who keeps your recovery phrase, at any time. A new Key custody section in Security > Your Phrase offers the same two choices you made at signup, with your current one marked: let us hold an encrypted copy so a new device signs in with your account and nothing to type, or keep the only copy yourself.
NewMoving to self-custody deletes our copy for good. Confirming asks you to retype three of the twelve words by position first, because after that they are the only way in.
ImprovedOnly your own device can store a recovery phrase on your account. The request now carries a cryptographic signature from the keys on your device, so being signed in is not by itself enough.

Follows your system, and fits how you write
NewThe app now follows your system theme. Set Auto in Appearance and it turns dark at sunset and light at sunrise with the rest of your device, live, no reload. Light and Dark are still there to pin, and the choice is per device, so your phone and your laptop can disagree.
NewJournal entry titles are yours to shape. A new Journals pane in Settings offers five date formats plus an optional suffix of your own, with today's date previewed in every option as you pick. New entries only, so anything you have already renamed stays as you wrote it.
NewFour text sizes for the editor, in Appearance. Paragraphs, headings, lists, code and tables scale together, and the setting stays on the device you set it on, so a phone at arm's length and a large monitor can each get the size that suits them.
ImprovedJournal and task titles are written in your own language. A German or Japanese account no longer gets an English date on a new entry.
FixedRenaming a journal entry no longer disconnects it from the Week in Review card or its weekly reflection. Entries remember their own date now, so the title is free text you can change at will.

A new home for the app
NewThe app has moved to use.privacynotes.app. One click moves you: it syncs everything first and only hands you over once every note is safely on the server, then reminds you to update your bookmark. Nothing to re-enter, no device slot used, and your desktop and mobile apps carry on exactly as before.
NewThe move puts the app on its own origin, which is a security boundary rather than just a new address. Browsers isolate storage and scripts per origin, so the public website now runs in a completely separate sandbox from your vault, and the app host serves nothing but the app: no marketing pages, no search engine indexing, a tighter content policy.
ImprovedThe app starts noticeably faster, fetching only the language you read in rather than all thirteen. About two thirds off the initial download.
ImprovedThe homepage paints straight away for first-time visitors, instead of showing a loading animation while the app loads behind it.
