# What is Zen mode?

Zen mode hides everything except the note you are writing: the sidebar, the list and the footer, and the toolbar starts hidden too. Tabs you have open stay at the top. Press Cmd+Shift+F on a Mac or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows and Linux, click **Zen** in the footer, or right-click an empty area and choose **Zen Mode**.

Press Escape, the same keys again, or **Exit Zen** at the top of the note to come back. **Show formatting toolbar** brings the toolbar back while you stay in Zen mode. Zen mode is part of Pro, and the [demo](https://try.privacynotes.app) lets you try it without an account.
