# How do I hide spoiler text in a note?

Select the text and choose **Spoiler** in the + menu of the toolbar, or type it between two pairs of bars: `||spoiler||`. The text blurs at once. While you edit, it shows as soon as your cursor touches it and blurs again when the cursor moves on. In a read-only note, a click shows it.

The note list and previews show `•••` in its place, so not even the length gives it away. Search still finds the words inside a spoiler, an HTML export keeps them blurred until the reader clicks, and a printout shows them. A Markdown export keeps the bars, which other Markdown apps show as plain characters around the text. Spoilers are free.
