# How do I add tasks to a list without opening it? In Ninja, type the tasks, then `>>` and the list's name, and press Enter: `milk, eggs >> groc` adds two tasks to the end of your Groceries list, and you stay where you are. A few letters of the name are enough. A name no list has yet makes that list with the tasks in it. Into a note or a journal entry, the text goes in as a paragraph. Commas split the tasks, and quotes keep a comma, so `"socks, warm", charger` makes two. A toast confirms what was added, and when that list is open, one Undo takes it back. Ninja never writes into [an item behind your PIN](https://privacynotes.app/help/locked-vs-protected/), a read-only item or a Kanban board.
