# Can I edit a folder of Markdown files from my own disk? Yes. Open the Markdown pillar in the sidebar, pick a folder of .md and .txt files, and edit them in the same editor you use for notes. Subfolders appear on their own, edits save straight back to the file, and nothing is converted, so the same folder keeps working in Obsidian, in a git repo, or in your own scripts. **Save to my notes** copies any file, or a whole selection, into your encrypted notes in one click and leaves the original where it is. All of it is free on every tier. One honest limit: the folder is the one part of the app we do not encrypt. Those files stay on your disk exactly as you left them, we never upload them, and they never sync to your other devices. It needs the desktop app, or Chrome, Edge or Opera on a computer. Safari, Firefox and phones cannot open a folder from disk. --- Source: https://privacynotes.app/help/markdown-folder
