# Can I choose which buttons show in the toolbar?

Yes. Click the gear at the end of the toolbar, or open Settings > Toolbar. Every button has three homes: **On the bar**, **In the + menu** or **Hidden**. Drag a button to move it, or click it for its options. A hidden button still works through its keyboard shortcut and its Markdown, so hiding one takes nothing away.

Moving the bar to the top or the bottom is free on every account. Arranging its buttons is part of Pro: on a free account, Settings > Toolbar works as a preview you can try, and your layout is saved once you have Pro. Your arrangement follows your account to every device, and **Reset to defaults** brings the standard bar back. On a touch screen the bar is a single row that scrolls sideways, on every account, so no button is tucked away behind a second row.
