# Can I track a medication I take only when needed?

Yes. In Settings > Trackers > Medication, choose **As needed** [instead of a schedule](https://privacynotes.app/help/add-medication/). The Meds pill then shows **Log a dose** for it rather than asking whether you took it. Each tap records a dose at that moment, and the doses of the day are listed by time, each with a button to remove it.

Set "At most a day" to see a running count such as "2 of 3 today". At that number the pill says "Daily limit reached" as a note, and you can still log a dose. Statistics count as-needed doses on their own and keep them out of the share of scheduled doses taken.
