# Why does the App Store privacy label say my data is linked to me? Because Apple asks for one label that covers everything that can reach our server, even when it arrives encrypted and even when only some accounts send it. Linked to you means attached to an account, and the account behind a phrase sign-up is a key, not a name. Nothing is used for tracking, and the app carries no analytics, ads, or crash reporting. Each line on the label means one thing: - **User Content**: your notes and files, encrypted on your device. Under self-custody we cannot read them. - **Identifiers**: a public key derived from your recovery phrase, and a device hash computed on your device that only enforces the free device limit. - **Contact Info**: an email address, only if you sign in with Google, Apple, or GitHub. - **Purchases**: whether your account has Pro. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your card. To keep that list as short as possible for your own account, sign up with a recovery phrase instead of a Google, Apple, or GitHub login, and keep self-custody. Settings > Account > Key custody shows your current mode.
